Der Finnish Village Action Movement wurde der Preis dafür zuerkannt, "eine dynamische und das Leben vieler Menschen verbessernde Alternative zu den Charakteristika moderner ökonomischer Entwicklung - dem Verfall ländlicher Strukturen, Zentralisierung und Entmündigung der Öffentlichkeit - aufgezeigt zu haben".
Der Vortrag von Tapio Mattlar fand im Rahmen des Seminars "Historische Dimensionen der Regionalisierung in Europa" und der Vorlesung "Wirtschaftsintegration in Europa vom 18. bis ins 20. Jahrhundert (Universität Salzburg/Fachbereich Geschichte) statt. Er wurde von der Leopold-Kohr-Akademie sowie der Universität Salzburg veranstaltet.
